Do-it-Yourself Assembly
Our pergola kits make do-it-yourself installation a snap. Each kit has been tested for precise joinery and easy assembly. Start the installation process by watching an orientation video. Additional videos and printed instructions will take you step-by-step through the assembly and installation process. - You will need enough room. Generally, this is the footprint of the pergola kit plus at least a foot on all sides.
- A building permit may or may not required for a pergola. Its important that you check with the appropriate local authority ahead of time to understand your responsibilities. Be sure to let them know if the pergola will be attached to an existing structure or unattached. More about building permits …
- The installation involves any excavation for a foundation and the building site is atop or near any underground utilities then you must contact your local dig-safe authority to have the locations of these utilities marked. If you are unsure, then the safe thing to do is contact your local dig-safe authority anyway.
- Delivery is FREE anywhere in New England, provided it is on one of our scheduled delivery runs.
- The delivery and unloading site must be paved or an improved gravel surface.
- Ensure there is ample space for us to park our delivery vehicle and to unload and unpackage your kit.
- Each kit includes step-by-step videos that walk you through the assembly and installation process.
- These videos are augmented by printable step-by-step instructions that you can bring to the job site.
- Buried post
- Concrete above ground footings
- Concrete buried sonotube footings
- Level raised wooded deck (note that the deck joist beams need to be directly under the pergola support posts)
- Level concrete pad of sufficient thickness.
- Level the installation area and build the desired foundation for your kit.
- Ensure all debris is removed from the installation area prior to assembly.
- Ensure no buried utilities, wires, pipes, sprinklers, etc. will interfere with installation.
- Ensure a clearance area around the installation area of at least 6’ in all directions (pergola footprint plus 6’ in all directions).
- Ensure there are no overhead obstacles within 6’ of the top of the pergola (power lines, roofs, trees, etc.).
- All of our pergola kits are free standing and do not require attachment to existing structures.
- However, we offer an optional attachment kit for customers who do wish to attach their pergola to an existing structure.

Our Installation Services
Not everyone has the time, skills and tools for do-it-yourself assembly of a pergola kit. For these homeowners we offer professional installation services at affordable prices. We understand the vision you have for your home and property, and will provide you with safety, ease and peace of mind, so you can sit back and enjoy your new outdoor structure. Our professional technicians are specialists in pergola delivery and installation. We value your time, home and investment, and offer convenient and flexible appointments including weekends.
- Our technician will deliver and assemble your pergola kit in accordance with our assembly and installation instructions and specifications.
- For in-ground post pergolas we will excavate the foundation holes to a depth of two feet.
- We will clean up and dispose of all packaging materials.
- Before leaving, our technician will show you that the unit has been assembled properly.
- Rustic rough finish pergola kits are not paintable.
- Smooth finish kits come primed and ready to paint. You can apply the finish paint coat yourself or for an additional fee our technician can apply it for you.

- Yes, our technician will call you 24 hours in advance to confirm the appointment, and within 60 minutes before arrival at the scheduled time.
- Ensure all debris is removed from the installation area prior to our arrival.
- Level the installation area to within 1” over a 10 foot area and 2” over a 20 foot area.
- Ensure a clearance area around the installation area of at least 6’ in all directions (pergola footprint plus 6’ in all directions).
- Ensure there are no overhead obstacles within 6’ of the top of the pergola (power lines, roofs, trees, etc.).
- Ensure no buried utilities, wires, pipes, sprinklers, etc. will interfere with installation.
- Installation of any surface products (i.e., pavers, mulch, etc.) should be done only after structure installation is completed.
- Obtain a building permit if one is required … we can assist you with the process. See here for more on building permits.
- An adult homeowner MUST be at the job site upon our arrival and at completion of the installation.
- Arrange for pets and children to be in a separate area during the entire installation process.
- Ensure there is ample space for us to park our delivery vehicle and to unload and unpackage your pergola kit.
- Ensure that there is an unobstructed pathway between the unloading area and the installation site.
- Ensure access to a working grounded electric power within 200’ of the installation area.
- Cost will vary according to the type and size of your kit, type of foundation, and attachment to existing structure (if any).

- While we provide FREE delivery anywhere in New England, our assembly services are offered in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont only. In other states, we can help you find a local contractor to do the installation.
Contractor Assembly
If you have a trusted contractor who you would like to do the installation, then please have them contact us to discuss the project and coordinate delivery. We will provide your contractor with installation guidelines and time estimates so they can provide you with an accurate cost estimate. We will provide your contractor with our signature installation support.
